Student Summit

With the whole flatclassroom project coming to an end, its nice to say i enjoyed every minute in class that we took part in this.
In the project, I enjoyed the most how we actually communicated with people from across the world, and got to experience the excitement behind working online with kids from other states and other countries and connecting on a much smaller scale to get things done. The biggest challenge or obstacle that I had to come across was the aspect of trying to get others to help communicate more! It’s hard to keep up with others in different time zones from yourself but it’s harder when also the other people you’re doing your work with don’t have their part of the work done! In all though, I think that to make this project better, video chat like Skype should be implemented so students can get to know each other on a more personal level, to make it better, we should get more time to find research on our topics and just a little more guidance only cause it felt like we were thrown out there to figure it out on our own! Overall this was a great experience and I'd recommend anyone to take part in it.

Office OneNote 2010

So I've come across this cool way to get my notes in school done faster than just writing on paper. Its called OneNote 2010. Its this cool program that you can use either on your phone, iPod touch or any other Apple product, or any product that you can use applications with. With OneNote, notes are taken beyond the pencil and paper. OneNote lets you design, and organize your notes like never before with subpages, screen shots, pictures, and different tabs to switch from class to class. You can create different templates for different classes or different projects that you encounter, and one special feature is to add in files from different office programs, like Word or Powerpoint to help with whats in your notes. With OneNote, notes in class are much easier to take than what it used to be like.

The World is Flat 3.0

In the video The World is Flat 3.0 it surprised me how Thomas Friedman, a regular MIT professor, could come up with the idea of discovering how our world really is a flat, connected space. It was amazing to find out in my childhood that the amazing innovation of the internet was created.
To be exact it was made in 1995 due to the creators of the first internet browser called Netscape, which then flourished into a major fiber optic network that connected the US to Japan, and many other countries as a whole. I do disagree though, only because our world in the US is totally different to how others worlds are in Bejing, or in Bangladesh.
Friedman also showed a good example of globalization over time with the terms world 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0. World 1.0 was from the A.D times to 1420. World 2.0 was from 1420 until the year 2000. And 3.0 was from 2000 to the present. Over time, he spoke how each globalization period brought new technology into our world. Such as the PC.

I believe with the Flat Classroom project, people can better understand what life is like as a student in other countries other than what its like in other states. I believe the project will help show how others in different countries interact with us to be a team in group work and discover how we really are all alike in some way, shape, and form. I only worry if the groups we will work with can cooperate well, and know the same things we know here in America. But in all I think this will overall be a great experience.

Post 1: About Me :)

WHAAADUP! I am Terrin Hicks, I love to listen to music, drive, and hang out with my friends. Im currently a senior at Valley High School, and im enrolled in the best tech class called Digital Communication Tools a.k.a Digi-Tools. Digi tools was created to help students take the advantage to learn more about the newest technology our world has to offer, and the reason behind the blog is to report out and talk about all the products and software we use everyday.

Just to show im actually listening during class, lol, I am whats called a "digital native". A child who was born into the technology we use today. I know I use my phone to text, call, and surf the web, along with my iPod touch to explore my music and media everyday. Im also apart of the Facebook and Twitter community sharing the best aspects of my life that i can.

But the question is how do you show yourself apart of the digital community? Does the technology today help you  with work or slow you down? And what exactly do you use it for?
